If you might be thinking about child behavior modification programs, be cautious before you buy! If you are confronted with residential courses, be really cautious and examine out all their credentials and references first. I know 1 parent who had to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars for the so called group therapy, the psychologist and the educational consultant. The bills mounted up and in the end the whole seminar or residential course turned to be a fraud. Don’t think you have to stop toilet training when the family goes on vacation. You just need to be prepared for toilet training on the go.

Make sure your youngster feels comfortable with a standalone potty seat, and take it along with you. You can always set the potty seat up in the passenger seat if your youngster needs to go. Remember to pack potty liners for the potty seat, or small plastic bags. Clean-up will be much easier.     (more…)

Postpartum depression in mothers often has a negative impact on the infant:

• The newborn may grow up with behavioral problems. Children of depressed mothers are more prone to develop problems in behavior. This includes sleeping problems, the child is aggressive and hyperactive;
• Development of child is very slow: they may learn to walk and talk later that is normally expected and they may also experience problems in school;
• The child may have difficulty in establishing relationships, make friends and be socially withdrawn in general;
• It has been revealed in recent studies that children of depressed mothers are more dependent on others, are less active and have low self-esteem.
