Rumors have been swirling for months, but I was still shocked and SAD to hear that BuyBuy BABY (and parent store Bed Bath & Beyond) are officially closing. 😔
The BAD news obviously is that ALL their locations will be closing on June 30th, due to bankruptcy. These are 2 of our Mom’s favorite stores and the best places to register for baby!
Btw, keep reading to find out how your baby registry is affected.
There may be a silver lining for you new parents though.
Buy Buy Baby / Bed Bath & Beyond Closing Sales
The GOOD news is you’ll get HUGE savings with their going-out-of-business sales. Expect deep discounts on all inventory — with savings of up to 90% in some cases!
It’s the perfect time to cross off some of those baby registry must-haves and get awesome deals off big ticket items.
You’ll probably get the steepest discounts IN stores right now, but you can still shop the liquidation sales online.
Keep in mind that all sales are final after April 26th. Returns and exchanges can be made until May 24, 2023.

What happens to my BuyBuy Baby Registry?
According to their Chapter 11 FAQ page, your baby registry information is safe and arrangements are being made for all registries to be taken care of by another registry service. (My guess is they’ll use Babylist).
I suggest you move your registry to Babylist NOW. Why?
Because your BuyBuy BABY registry can be easily transferred to Babylist with just a few clicks. PLUS Babylist will send you a $10 off Babylist promo code to use on a little something for baby (or you!) in the Babylist Shop.
Babylist is our visitors #1 pick for the best baby registry. Plus, it’s a universal registry – which means you can store ALL your baby registries in one convenient place.
Don’t forget, you can also get their FREE Hello Baby Box filled with free baby products, baby samples and high-value coupons!
If you don’t want to use Babylist, check out the best baby registries our Moms just love.
🤫 Psst … they all offer FREE baby registry gifts!!!
Speaking of registry gifts, what about the BuyBuy Baby goody bag?
Can I still get a Free Baby Registry Gift Bag?
Possibly. I called my local store and was told they had a few baby registry goody bags left in stock.
The customer service rep offered to set one aside for me since I had an active baby registry.
Not sure if all BuyBuy Baby stores will do this (or if they still have them in stock) but it doesn’t hurt to ask! 😉
If you’re curious, you can see what came in my free BuyBuy Baby goody bag here.
She also said that Buy Buy Baby registry boxes can still be purchased online for $10. Previously these boxes included a $10 credit making them technically FREE.
However, I’m not sure if they would honor the $10 credit towards a future purchase since they’re in liquidation now. Hmm?
BUT – my BuyBuy baby registry box had about $40+ worth of baby products and samples inside. It also included HUNDREDS in coupons for other baby brands and retailers.
I think it was totally worth it, but you’ll have to decide for yourself.
