#3 – Ask Your Doctor and Local Hospital

When you deliver your baby at the hospital, they’ll provide the diapering essentials during your stay. You can take all the diapers they leave in your room and even ask the nurses for more diaper samples. Many times they provide free diaper bags filled with baby samples. Also, don’t forget to ask your OB/GYN and your baby’s pediatrician. They have diaper samples they can pass on and may even know of other clubs and organizations that give out free diapers. All you have to do is ask. 😀

#9 – Local Free Sites + Groups

Sometimes a parent will buy a bunch of diapers that they no longer want or need. Maybe that brand of diaper leaked, gave their child a rash, or their baby grew out of them. These parents may offer their extra diapers on FreeCycle. Or they may be selling them for super cheap on Craigslist, at a yard sale, or in a local Facebook group. Even if they aren’t giving them away for free, the prices may be drastically reduced.

#10 – Diaper Banks and Charities

Even if you have WIC or get food stamps, you’ll quickly find out that they do not provide free diapers. If you can’t afford to buy diapers, check out the National Diaper Bank Network. This is a non-profit organization that helps low-income families. They are expanding all over the country, so they might have a local chapter near you. You can also Google your town’s name followed by “diaper bank” to see if other local charities like churches or food banks offer assitance.

#11 – Family and Friends

Don’t underestimate the love and generosity of your family and friends. A simple way they can help is by purchasing diapers for your baby shower, so don’t forget to add diapers to your registry. But they may be able to do more than that.

Another Mom may have extra diapers her children have outgrown that she could pass on to you. Maybe your parents would be willing to set up a subscribe and save through Amazon or buy diapers from a local store. You never know unless you ask!

#12 – Switch to Cloth Diapers

If you really want to save money, you could consider using cloth diapers, just like Grandma did. It may be less convenient, but it’s much cheaper than buying disposable diapers. Courtney Baker (a financial blogger) did the math and calculated that a family with three kids could save $2,547 by switching to cloth diapers!

#13 – Free Gift Cards

I love this little trick; earn free gift cards then redeem them for free diapers! Or buy whatever else you want – it’s free! Check out the many ways you can earn free gift cards quickly and easily…

Shopkick – Shopkick is the app that rewards you for shopping in-store and online. Earn reward points then redeem for a wide selection of gift cards (up to $100 value)! I got a free $10 Walmart gift card quickly for just scanning the bar codes on products at my local Walmart. So easy and addictively fun!

Swagbucks – Join Swagbucks to earn rewards for doing things online like taking surveys, doing searches, or even playing games. Redeem your rewards for free Amazon gift cards or PayPal cash. Get a Free $5 Bonus to get started.

Target – Target has great diaper gift card promotions! You’ll score some sweet deals when you combine coupons from the Target Cartwheel app and save 5% or more with your Target REDcard. I’ve even been able to get FREE packs of diapers by using Target coupons along with a great sale.

#14 – Become a Diaper Tester

Join Nieto Research Consumer Panel to test disposable diapers. If chosen to participate, they’ll send you three packs of diapers for you to try. Then you fill out a survey based on how they worked for your baby.
